NYC – weekend 2
Weekend two in NYC didn’t exactly go according to plan, but then again I didn’t really have much of a plan. Myself and three colleagues from work went into the city on Friday night and checked into The Hilton on 6th Avenue. On Saturday we decided to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge after walking to the Brooklyn Bridge. We set off along Broadway and headed downtown, stopping along the way for a look in a few shops and a coffee break here and there. I was still hobbling with my leg injury and it was about -6c so it was bitterly cold.
I loved walking over the Brooklyn Bridge and didn’t realise you could actually do that. The views looking back at the city were spectacular and it was bright and sunny (but v.cold). I used the Pano App on my iPhone to take some pictures.

After the Brooklyn Bridge it was off to Battery Park and the Staten Island Ferry. It was lovely and warm inside the ferry but step outside to take a photo and your hands almost dropped off.

Next it was back uptown (on foot) with a stop at a great bar on Bleeker for drinks and wings. Due to circumstances beyond my control I had three Apple Martini’s within half an hour which is two too many. As a result I was reasonably sloshed when we left the bar. This place did pretty awesome wings and we consumed rather a lot as we hadn’t really stopped to eat much all day. We kept on walking uptown and stopped at a restaurant somewhere for dinner. I had crab cakes and knocked all the glasses off a table in the restaurant as I staggered past it. I was seeing double at this point. Eventually we headed back to the hotel (still on foot). I was sober by the time we got there. Sober and exhausted. We walked around 12 miles all up as we zig zagged all our way back.
Sunday I went off and did a bit of shopping at Disney and the Apple store. Then I met back up with my colleagues and we did a walk around Central Park. It was quite tiring and my feet were killing me after all the walking on Saturday. I quickly realised my shoes had crap support and didn’t help the situation.
